To continue our battle against thalassemia, ideSHi hosted 20th awareness program in collaboration with First Security Islami Bank Ltd at Fazlul Huq Muslim Hall, University of Dhaka on 13th August 2022. During the program, Dr. Firdausi Qadri addressed thalassemia as a silent killer and talked about the necessary steps we should take to prevent the disease from spreading.
Professor Dr. Emran Kabir Chowdhury and Professor Dr. A H M Nurun Nabi, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Dhaka, and Dr. Shah Mohammad Masum, Provost, Fazlul Huq Muslim hall chaired the event. Our Special guest Waseque Md Ali, managing director, of First Security Islami Bank Ltd, was present and shared his view about the thalassemia burden.
Students of Dhaka University from different faculties participated in the event and 194 blood samples were collected for the screening.
