Position Summary:
The Pathologist at ideSHi is responsible for the diagnosis and study of diseases through the examination of tissues, organs, and bodily fluids. The pathologist will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide accurate and timely diagnostic information to support patient care and research initiatives. This role also involves contributing to research projects, quality control programs, and continuous improvement of laboratory services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnostic Services:
- Examine and diagnose diseases based on tissue, blood, and other bodily fluid samples.
- Interpret laboratory test results and integrate findings with clinical data and microscopic analysis.
- Laboratory Management:
- Oversee the operation of laboratory sections, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for diagnostic tests.
- Ensure accurate documentation and maintenance of patient records and laboratory data.
- Research and Development:
- Participate in research projects to advance knowledge in pathology and related fields.
- Collaborate with research teams to design and execute studies.
- Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at conferences.
- Quality Assurance:
- Participate in quality control and quality assurance programs.
- Review and update quality management systems.
- Conduct audits and proficiency testing to ensure diagnostic accuracy and reliability.
- Education and Training:
- Mentor and train laboratory personnel.
- Develop and deliver educational programs and seminars.
- Stay updated with advancements in pathology and related disciplines through continuous professional development.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with clinicians, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive diagnostic insights.
- Communicate effectively with patients and their families regarding diagnostic findings and implications.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case discussions.
Educational Qualifications:
- Required:
- MBBS with Doctor of Medicine (MD)(Preferred) or DCP
- Preferred:
- Fellowship training in a subspecialty of pathology (e.g., General pathology, hematopathology, cytopathology).
- Additional certifications related to laboratory management or specific diagnostic techniques.
Skills and Competencies:
- Technical Skills: Expertise in histopathology, cytopathology, molecular pathology, hematology, and related diagnostic techniques.
- Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze complex data and integrate clinical and laboratory findings.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with healthcare professionals, patients, and research teams.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in diagnostic evaluations and reporting.
- Leadership: Ability to lead and manage laboratory teams, including training and mentoring staff.
- Research Acumen: Proficiency in designing and conducting research studies (a track record of publications will get preferences).
- Ethical Standards: Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards in medical practice.
Working Conditions:
- Environment: Laboratory setting with potential exposure to biohazards and infectious materials.
- Schedule: Full-time position with standard working hours, with potential need for on-call duties or extended hours based on clinical and research demands.
- Travel: Limited travel may be required for conferences, training, or collaborative research projects.
