MD. Zahirul Islam completed his B.Sc and MS in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Chittagong. He worked as a Assistant Embryologist at Surgiscope Fertility Center (Test Tube Baby Center). Currently, he is working as a Research Officer at the Institute for Developing Science and Health Initiatives (ideSHi). But his principal work station at Bangladesh Institute of Tropical and Infectious Diseases (BITID). His core responsibilities to detect Tuberculosis (TB) through Microscopy, Culture, PCR, Line Probe Assay, and GeneXpert in suspected TB patient. For better diagnosis and treatment of Tuberculosis, his future interest to compare the Latent TB infection and Active TB infection through Interferon Gamma Release Assays (IGRAs) with combination of Heparin-Binding Haemagglutinin (HBHA).
