Dr. Kasrina Azad is an Assistant Scientist at ideSHi, with a rich background in medical science and public health, focusing on epidemiology and bioethics. She earned her M.B.B.S. degree before pursuing a master’s in public health, specializing in Epidemiology. Her academic work, particularly her thesis project entitled “Assessment of the Current Situation of Medical Waste Management (MWM) and Practices in Dhaka City, Bangladesh,” demonstrates her keen interest in addressing critical public health issues and has further bolstered her research capabilities.
At ideSHi, Dr. Azad’s research portfolio is diverse and impactful. She plays a pivotal role in COVID-19 sero-vaccine surveillance in children, contributing valuable data to understanding vaccine efficacy and public health interventions. Her work also includes the characterization of Klebsiella pneumoniae, which aids in the development of vaccines against this significant pathogen, emphasizing her expertise in microbiology and vaccine research. Moreover, she has been extensively involved in the management of Contract Research Organization (CRO) activities, the coordination of vaccine facilities, and the oversight of the staff clinic at ideSHi. This project, titled “Creating Awareness on HPV Infection, Vaccination, and Cervical Cancer: A Roadmap towards the Elimination of Cervical Cancer from Bangladesh,” aims to educate the public and contribute to the elimination of cervical cancer in Bangladesh.
